About Group Psychotherapy
Group therapy is a powerful therapeutic tool in which you will both learn about yourself and how others experience you in the emotionally contained setting of your group therapist’s office. A therapy group is one of the best ways to understand your relational patterns and to explore new ways of relating to others within the safety of the group setting.
If you are interested in learning more about group psychotherapy or want to arrange an interview please contact me to initiate the group interview process. We will meet between 2-4 times to determine if there is a mutual fit between the group that I am offering and your needs.
The current therapy groups I am offering include
Women’s Psychotherapy Group:
This is a small group that meets weekly to explore the range of issues that are frequently themes in women’s lives. These themes include: friendship, intimacy, caring for oneself while caring for others, creativity, parenting, partnership and living a full and vital life. The group milieu is used to explore and examine how you relate to others in the group and how to identify feelings that emerge in the here and now of the group experience. |
Parenting through the College Application Process:
This is a supportive psychotherapy group to assist parents of juniors and seniors in high school that are in the process of applying to college or beginning the college exploration process. It will cover such issues as the parent’s role in the application process, how to separate your own needs and desires from those of your teen, how to help your teen deal with competition and disappointment and how to manage your own stress about the ambiguity and uncertainty that is part of the process. The group will also help you address any feelings of loss that may emerge as you go through this new developmental phase as a parent. |
